1. Check out the website for The 48 Hour Project at www.48hourfilm.com. When and why was it started? What are the rules? How many teams participate? What cities host the competition? Check newspapers from those cities to see what’s been written about the Project.
2. We’ve been told some of the jobs that members of the team will perform on this Project. Dad is the director, Mom is a writer, Marlowe is best boy and Isabelle wants to be the stunt person. What specific duties would each perform? What other jobs are necessary to make a movie?
3. The Scene Stealers will produce a Detective movie. What types of things would you expect to be included in such a genre? How might it differ from other genres listed: Western, mockumentary, animation, romance or science fiction?
4. Dr. Bob was asked to participate in the movie because of his knowledge of historical trivia. See if you can match wits with him and find the answer to Abe Lincoln’s hat size and the state soil of Montana.
5. Isabelle, Marlowe’s sister, was born in a different country—Guatemala. Find Guatemala on the map. Research how different life might be for a young person living in the U.S. and one living in Guatemala.
