
1. Tim thinks he’s in the rain forest instead of his classroom because of all the bird sounds. Where are rain forests located? What kinds of birds might you find in a rain forest? Why do they prefer to live there—what makes those areas so attractive to them?
2. Dr. Finch is an ornithologist. What does she study? What type of training does that profession require? What kinds of things might Dr. Finch do at work?
3. Dr. Finch tells us about methods like GISS that are used to identify birds. Pick a bird and use GISS to describe it to your classmates. Can they guess what bird you’ve chosen?
